The VP330 is one of the finest Vocoders, only 2000 were produced between 1979 and 1980. It went through two different versions, MK1s had organ style rocker switches, MK2s had electronic switching, the sounds are similar but with the Mk2 sounding cleaner and the Mk1 sounding warmer or so they say. I have heard both and to be honest there is no difference. ThI think the first version of something always seems better for some reason even when it is not. The main difference is in the sound of the chorus ensemble. The sweep and cycle are different.
ARP is an advanced Polyphonic Arp and Note Sequencer with Scale Remapping for powerful sequencing possibilities. Sequences can be re-mapped based on the played note so for example a sequence can be forced to fit to the major scale. The idea behind this is to break away from the typical note sequencer where every key simply transposes the sequence, the ability to remap each note results in a much more creative sequence.
