AudioPort Universal v2.0 WiN MAC
Team: DOA | 2009.9.30 | WiN: 1.51 MB | MAC: 2.76 MB
AudioPort™ Universal is a stand-alone version of Audio Impressions’ proprietary system for enabling samplers or computers dedicated to digital audio plug-ins to send multichannel digital audio over gigabit Ethernet. AudioPort is cross-platform, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re sending audio from one or more Windows PC sample players to a Macintosh or Windows-based sequencer or DAW.
Eliminate multiple costly audio cards and interfaces!
- Send up to 32 channels of 192 kHz 32 bit digital audio from PCs to a Mac or a PC for a fraction of the cost!
- AudioPort™ Universal software transports digital audio over standard Gigabit Ethernet hardware.
- Even if you already have audio output cards, you can use AudioPort to free up precious card slots in your computers.
- AudioPort now works in Vista 64 and Windows 7 64 bit OS’s with the addition of jBridge, an inexpensive utility.
- Works with many popular sequencers such as Ableton Live, Cubase, Digital Performer, Logic, and Nuendo.
Audio over Ethernet
AudioPort™ Universal is Audio Impressions’ proprietary system for enabling samplers (or any computers dedicated to digital audio-creating VST plug-ins) to send multichannel digital audio over Gigabit Ethernet. AudioPort is cross-platform, so it doesn’t matter whether you’re sending audio from one or more Windows PC sample players to a Macintosh or to a Windows-based sequencer or DAW.
It has two components
AudioPort is comprised of two parts, the Host and the plug-in. You install AudioPort host on one or more Windows PC computers, and you instantiate whatever VST based virtual instruments or sound-generating plug-ins you wish inside that host. You then install one or more AudioPort plug-ins on your Macintosh or Windows sequencer or DAW. Digital audio flows from Host to plug-in via standard Gigabit Ethernet so no expensive cabling or audio I/O cards/converters are necessary.
What is the capacity?
Each host can send out up to 32 channels of digital audio at up to 192 kHz/32 bit depth. You can run up to four sampler computers, each with one AudioPort Host. You then instantiate one AudioPort plug-in for each pair of channels being received into the sequencer or DAW. Works with MusicLAB’s MIDI over LAN CP or The Nerds’ ipMIDI for communication with synths and samplers instantiated in AudioPort Host. Also supports direct-connected MIDI keyboards and hardware devices that have Windows drivers or native Windows support. AudioPort Host does not have audio inputs so any audio it sends out over Ethernet must be created by a VST plug-in within the AudioPort host.
Can I find out more?
You can read more about how AudioPort Universal works and how to set it up by downloading the AudioPort™ Universal User Guide. The User Guide (instruction manual) shows you how to set up AudioPort on your sampler(s) and sequencer as well as how to obtain and set up jBridge for using the AudioPort Universal Host in 64-bit Windows environments. The Windows VST sequencer plug-in works in 32-bit Windows environments or with jBridge in 64-bit Windows 7; the Mac VST and AU sequencer plug-ins work in Mac OS-X through 10.6.
